Hello sweet friends!!
Do you all have the itch to start your spring gardening like I do?! As we get closer to spring, I am starting to plan my entryway.
Pansies in Containers
I love to fill my containers with one of my favorite early spring gardening annuals ~ pansies. They are cold resistant and can even grow successfully in northern zones. The pansies I planted in the ground last fall survived -12 degrees and lots of heavy snow. They emerged full of new green growth. They ADORE cold weather, which is good for all of you gardeners like me in Michigan. Their blooms come in a variety of bright colors like blue, lavender, purple, red, orange, bronze, yellow, and white.

How to Plant Pansies
I adore pansies in yellow, maybe because it reminds me of sunshine!! I fill my containers with fresh potting soil for the season, and add Osmocote® per the package directions. For those of you who don’t know, Osmocote® it is a slow release fertilizer. I use it in all of my containers. I then moisten the soil to the consistency of cookie dough. Now for the fun part, adding your plants. I like to pack them in for good color and fullness. Finally, I added twigs to give the container height and texture.
If planting is not your thing, you can purchase pre~potted containers at your local nursery. These containers will give you good blooms until the warm summer weather hits. Just remember pansies like water… so make sure you keep the containers moist. The quickest way to kill pansies is to let them dry out and wilt.
To finish off my entryway last year I added these gorgeous yellow tulip wreaths. They are like putting a ray of sunshine on your door to welcome everyone entering our home!! Below is a link to a similar tulip wreath, that also comes in pink, coral, lavender, blush tones to fit your color scheme.
I adore creating a welcoming entryway for my sweet family and friends. When they come to visit they feel right at home. Nothing says… “come on in” then a welcoming front door.
I hope this helps you get the itch to start some spring gardening too!! Happy dreaming and planting dear friends!!
