Happy Valentine’s Day sweet Friends!
I am sharing a how to create a super fun DIY Valentine’s Day floral arrangement!!
Valentine’s Day is a day we show those we love how much we cherish our relationships with them. If you are having an intimate dinner party for two or a large gathering with your besties. I am hoping to share a few ideas to help your guests feel welcomed and loved.
Items needed for this floral centerpiece:
- 2 vases. Large and small. The smaller vase needs to be able to fit inside the larger vase with space in between to fit candy
- Conversation hearts ( I used 2 1/2 bags ~33 ozs each ~ for my vase that is 15″ tall x 8″ diameter)
- Cling Wrap
- Roses (1 dozen)
- Carnations (2 Bunches)
- Spatula
- Scissors
- Water

Lets get Started creating our floral arrangement…
This floral arrangement could be created in a large or small vase, I used a large vase (15″ tall x 8″ diameter).
Below, I have found vases similar to the ones I used in my floral arrangement at Amazon. Make sure to select the 6″ wide x 12″ tall (larger vase). For the smaller vase select 3″ wide x 10.5″ tall.
My design assistant Emma (our Labrador Retriever) is ready to help remove any fall out from the project!
To start our floral arrangement…
I sealed the inner/smaller vase with Press’n Seal from Glad Products to keep the candies from falling inside.
Then, cut off any excess leaving a small amount at the top.
Emma is really loving all the yummy smells in this project!! 🐶
Now for some fun!
Adding in your Conversation Hearts!
I used Brach’s Tiny Conversation Hearts.
Fill the bottom of the vase with Brach’s Tiny Conversation Hearts. ( I used 2 1/2 bags ~ 33 ozs each ~ for my vase that is 15″ tall x 8″ diameter)
ONCE THE BOTTOM IS FILLED…
I placed my smaller vase inside the larger vase on top of the candies.
Continue to fill the gap in between the two vases with your peppermint candies.
Make sure to tap down the peppermint candies to remove any gaps. A festive spatula is an absolute must!
Finally,
after you tap down all the peppermint candies for the last time and the space is filled almost to the top of the inner vase. You can now remove the Cling Wrap.
Carefully,
fill your inner vase with fresh water not spilling onto the Conversation Hearts.
LET THE FLORAL ARRANGING BEGIN…
You are now ready to start adding your flowers.
This is a mix of store bought flowers I got at my local grocery store. I used a dozen roses in a light pink, 2 bunches of carnations in a light and hot pink.
Using a mix of festive colors that compliment the pastel colors of the conversation hearts is essential for a cohesive look to the arrangement.
Don’t you love how beautiful and bright the pastels colors of the flowers look together! You can help but smile looking at them!!
I started with the beautiful soft pink roses…
Most importantly…
Remember to cut all your stems at least 1 – 2 inches at a diagonal to give them a good way to absorb water. Remove all leaves that will be below the water level to protect from bacteria growth in your water.
You may need to cut the stems shorter depending on where they are going in the arrangement. Eyeball the stem against the arrangement to give you an idea of the length you need. Always start longer, it’s easy to cut more… but once too short you cannot go back.
Next, I started adding in the hot pink carnations.
I love carnations, they last forever!! With proper care they can last almost a month!!
Finally, we add in the gorgeous light pink carnations…
AT THIS POINT…
You need to be turning your vase looking at all sides to see where there are holes and gaps that need to be filled. At the same time, make sure you are mixing the variety of flowers so they are evenly dispersed.
Voilà!!
You have a super festive and fun Valentine’s Day floral arrangement, the perfect centerpiece!!
Have fun creating dear friends!!
